Problem Statement : Spotify’s AI DJ is a great feature which is majorly launched only for the western hemisphere yet, an automated host that chats between songs and promises a perfectly tailored mix for each listener but in practice it still has rough edges. The algorithm leans heavily on tracks that are already popular, so users mostly hear music they (and listeners similar to them) already play, with only a small sliver of genuinely new artists sneaking through. Outside the English‑speaking world the bias is even clearer, with Western tracks dominating most playlists. On top of that, the feature offers only partial control: users can skip ahead but can’t view the full queue, jump back easily, or understand exactly why a particular song appears. And despite the “DJ” label, it doesn’t actually blend or beat‑match tracks like a human DJ would. All of this can leave users feeling boxed in by opaque choices rather than guided through a fresh, personal journey something Spotify will need to address if it wants the AI DJ to live up to its promise.
Users already have numerous ways to discover music, and they typically prefer having control over their listening experience. From this perspective, the AI DJ feature doesn’t appear to address a significant user problem. Spotify has already tackled major challenges in music streaming and has introduced several groundbreaking features, positioning itself as a leading entertainment platform. While it's commendable that Spotify is embracing the AI trend, the AI DJ feature is currently unavailable in India, so firsthand experience with it is limited. However, based on available online content and reviews, it seems the branding of "DJ" may be misleading. The feature doesn’t function like a traditional DJ, which could create confusion and dissatisfaction among users.

User can turn on the AiDJ switch in any playlist, hit play once, and then just sit back: from that moment on, the mix runs itself. AiDJ listens for the right tempo, key, and mood, lining up songs that flow naturally into one another while you enjoy the music no skip buttons, no fiddling required. User can peek at a live queue that shows what’s playing now and what’s coming next, and the user can even see the tracks which can be swapped out if something better fits the vibe which makes the user a DJ without needing to fiddle with other technical aspects of DJing. Keep the player tucked away as a small bar or pop it open to watch the “Mixing your <Playlist>” screen spin. At any point, user can pause the music or flip the switch off to take back manual control, but until then, AiDJ keeps the party seamless, letting you focus on the moment instead of managing the tracks.
On-Playlist AIDJ Will be designed to deliver an artificial DJ experience, where the AI handles track sequencing, transitions, and seamless mixing. Users maintain full control over their playlist, with the ability to enhance their track list and easily rearrange the queue to create the perfect vibe.
